| Pros | -Easy to make -Inexpensive -Makes skin smooth as a baby's bottom -Dries out exisiting eruptions quickly |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Tad bit messy |
| Bottom line | I dissolve four aspirin in a tablespoon, then add a few drops of honey. I gently rub the paste onto entire face - leave on for 20 minutes. As I remove, I gently exfoliate. I've been doing this daily for roughly 2 weeks now and my skin is smoother, brighter, and 'clean' looking. I'll continue with the daily use until I feel mild breakouts are under control - then I'll decrease usage to 3 or 4 times/week. Great mask! |

| Pros | Shrinks pimples Reduces clogged pores Makes skin feel smooth |
|---|---|
| Cons | Messy SNEEZE!!! |
| Bottom line | I use this as a scrub and as a mask. Well, I was using this daily as a scrub, as my skin is very oily. During this time, my acne was very limited. However, I got some face wash from a friend I decided to try for awhile in it;s place.. disaster! More pimples than ever. I finally figured out it MUST be the lack of the aspirin in my regime a month into this acne disaster, and it's finally calming down. I've been putting the masks on my cysts, and it shrinks them a lot. Usually they last for a few weeks. One was popping up and now it's barely noticeable. :) |

| Pros | Shrinks the size of zits Helps alot with redness Helps exfoliate You have really smooth skin afterward WORKS! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Messy...once it dries, if your face so much as twitches, you'll sprinkle white powder all over your shirt and the floor. But I got used to it and it's not that annoying anymore. Time consuming...I leave it on for 20-30 min usually, but sometimes longer if I can. You can't go out in public while it's on because you look like Frosty the Snowman gone wrong. Chances are you'll snort some by accident the first few times like I did. Achoo, let me tell you, achoo. |
| Bottom line | I looove this mask sooo much. After trying every OTC product out there (proactive, acnefree, nuetrogena, clean and clear, you name it) it's a little embarrassing to know that a $3 pack of 300 aspirin tablets from Walmart works better than a $40 3-step regimine that sucked! I haven't tried honey with it yet, because my mom doesn't want me using her expensive organic honey, but when I get some and start using it, I'll review again. I did use aloe, (well, it was Aftersun aloe gel, dunno if that counts) but it didn't really bonus anything, so I went back to plain old water. I'm hoping using honey will make it less likely to fall of my face and cause me to sneeze. USE IT! It's so cheap and effective....I don't know why that this home remedy isn't MUCH mire common...it makes no sense. People know more about the toothpaste zit remedy (Which is BS) then they do about this. A shame, really. |

| Pros | Smoother Skin Helps reduce inflammation Prevents acne, blackheads, whiteheads Speeds up the healing of blemishes Improves the appearance of pores Inexpensive! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Odd texture Time-consuming (must be left on for about 20 minutes) possible hyperpigmentation in dark skin tones after frequent use (if you are fitzpatrick type 4 or above, I would consult a dermatologist). |
| Bottom line | Obviously, do not use on skin suffering from eczema, allergic reaction, cold sores. I love the aspirin mask, and I incorporate it into my regular routine about 5 times a week. I use it at night before I go to sleep. I like to soften about 10 pills (I also use this for my neck and chest) in water, apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to make a thick paste (I place my pills in a tiny bowl and use just enough vinegar or lemon juice to barely cover the pills), then add enough honey to make the paste thinner and more manageable. I apply all over to my face post-cleansing, leave on for 10-20 minutes, then rinse off and apply any skin care/acne product. If your skin is dry, you may want to use yogurt instead of apple cider vinegar, water or lemon juice, then add honey. As a spot treatment, I will soak the pills in a bit of vodka (enough to make a medium paste) and apply them to individual blemishes- but DO NOT apply this all over your face (it's VERY strong- I started out about 1 minute at first, now I can leave it on for about 20). Apply this to individual blemishes ONLY, and wash off after 1-20 minutes (start out with a minute or two, work your way up to longer). The active ingredient- Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) is most soluble in alcohol, so using rubbling alcohol or vodka makes this a MUCH stronger product. You can use rubbing alcohol, but I prefer to use vodka (IMHO, it's been less irritating to my skin). |

| Pros | -Cheap, easy to find anywhere. -Easy to make -exfoliates -Great spot treatment |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Very messy -When it dries, it basically falls off the skin if you move your eyebrow -doesn't spread well |
| Bottom line | Try this, it might work for you. I used this a lot before I started using Tea Tree Oil. I still use it as a spot treatment, actually and it dries up the pimples very quick! I crush mine with a knife. I use the flat side of the knife and push down on each pill. (don't bother trying to cut it vertically over and over) Then I leave it on for an hour or so, sometimes overnight :) |

| Pros | - reduces the size of pimples - tightens appearance of pores - very cheap, easy to make - pleasant honey smell |
|---|---|
| Cons | - can be quite drying (but this is easily remedied with enough moisturizer) - might be too gritty for sensitive skin |
| Bottom line | Some background info: I've read about this homemade treatment from Ricebunny's blog a long time ago but never really tried it until I started breaking out about two months ago. I have combination skin, and pimples usually appear on my cheeks and forehead the most. Every night, I crush 3 (generic brand) aspirins in about 3 drops of water in my palm, then add 2 small globs of honey. I try not to put too much honey or else it gets too runny & drippy. I then apply it to my face, and wash it off with warm water after 30 mins. I use Olay Complete moisturizer afterwards. I can honestly say it works because there used to be a lot of inflamed red pimples on my cheeks, but now they have been reduced to very tiny spots. My family even commented on how my skin has vastly improved after only a week's trial. One night I even forgot to wash it off because I fell asleep and woke up without nasty results. New pimples still do appear but they are immediately reduced in size after I do a treatment at night. The honey really helps soften the skin too. Of course, what worked for me may not work for everyone, specially since some are more sensitive than others. But just use common sense and you'll be fine (i.e. do a patch test first to check, give it at least a week to show significant results, try to avoid the eye area, moisturize after rinsing face etc) |

| Pros | •The mask makes skin smooth and even looking for the day •kicks pimples OUT of sight •Exfoliates very well •Very cheap |
|---|---|
| Cons | •Overuse can cause real skin problems •Tends to be inconsistant in results •Overuse can make the mask lose efficacy •Some are allergic to aspirin applied topically but won't know it til they try the mask, and then they are sorry •If not mixed with something else besides water it will make you sneeze your butt off!! |
| Bottom line | I really like the aspirin mask, I just wish I could use it more often. When I do use it, my complexion looks smooth and even and it rids the redness of any pimples I might have at that time. An excellent mask for those who "pick" for it heals pimples fast and can lessen the redness of acne scabs (sorry to be gross) BEWARE tho'. Overuse will irritate skin in a weird way. |

| Pros | -reduces inflammation and redness -helps reduce puffiness -works fast! -treats acne |

| Cons | -NONE!!!! :) :) :) |
| Bottom line | Try this!!!!!! Crush up some aspirin. Add some honey if you want and some water. Put if on your face and let it sit for 15-30 mins. This works sooooo incredibly well, I can't emphasize enough how grateful I am I tried this. My face just went crazy recently and broke out like nuts and I bought tons of crap at the store in hopes it would help, but seriously, this and the egg white mask are probably the two best things you can do for an acne irritated face. I used it twice (once in the morning, once at night), and did an egg white mask once, and in just one day my face looked amazingly better. Thank you to all of the other reviewers who suggested this!!! :) |
