I used differin cream about two years ago. The first couple of months were pretty bad with the breakouts, but after that my skin was completely clear. Recently the acne came back and
now I am starting the process all over again. This time my skin isn't as irritated as before and I plan to stick it out again because it worked well once before.

I am in my mid-30s and have had mild/moderate acne on my face since I was 14. Always had oily/combo/sensitive skin with a bumpy texture and the occasional large zit and/or whitehead. Been using Differin cream before bed every night and Clindoxyl gel (I think it's marketed as Duac in the USA) every OTHER day (in the morning). First 7-12 days skin was red, itchy, flaky, & even more bumpy, but began to subside after that. At about 3-4 weeks, my skin was clear, but still slightly red. After 6 six weeks, my face is still clear and has never looked better. Like many of you, I reacted badly to the meds in the first 1-2 weeks but made some minor adjustments and it made a huge difference: Used only tiny amounts (1/2 a pea-size amounts for each) and reduced dosage of Clindoxyl to every other day. Redness/irritation reduced and the good results started within 2-3 days. Good luck and hang in there.

I used Differin a few years ago and found that it didn't do a thing to help my acne. At best, it was soothing for my face. The zits stayed, though.

All, Those medicines aren't good enough to clean skin, a better way of life works much better. As you take differin you'll notice that your skin will turn red at first, and it would take a lot of time to see a real difference. I don't think it really works, but it can have a placebo effet, that's why some of us thinks that differin is ok. The most important thing is not touching the spot while it is appearing on your face, cause it will infect the spot and making that many others spots appear. Avoid cigaret, stress and oily food, always clean your face with a soft soap or soap free lotion. That's all...The most important is accepting our faces with our spots and they will diseapear quickly....

I've been using this at night and DUAC Topical Gel in the morning with some cetaphil face mousturizer and face cleansor(to wash your face be4 you apply Acne RX), for about a week and i already noticed results. I'm still running on the samples my derm. gave me so i don't know if its pricey or not but i'm willing to pay whatever it costs cause its worked gr8 on me(i can only imagine what my face will look like in a month with results in just a week). I consider my acne to be moderate to mild but at this pace, it seems i'll end up clear in no time with the regimen my derm put me on. I havent noticed any dryness either. I rub my cleansor on, rinse, then apply the Differin Gel to the problem spots only and i keep waking up to better results.

I keep seeing all these people saying "i've used this for a few weeks and my face is horrible!" If you read the directions it says that it can take 8 weeks for full effect. Anyone encountering dryness on their face try a little non-oil based lotion (lubriderm) during the day. If you sick with this for a few months it is Great!

i've been using differen for about two weeks and people say that my face is getting worse. i have a bunch of bumps everywhere and my doctor told me to come see him after a couple weeks of using it. he will maybe prescribe another medication to go with it, like an oral antibiotic. i will use it for a few months, and see if it helps or not.

i am 26 and have had acne since i was 14. roaccutane was great for 12 months but my acne came back (not as bad though) I was considering going back on it but have heard too many horror stories (really bad long term side effects). tried differin and it worked for about 6 months, then I started to get a few spots every now and then. have just gone back on it. can i just say that DIET is huge - eating the right stuff and taking vitamins and herbs is fantastic. i would def. recommend that before going on any oral medication. go see a naturopath - they can really balance your hormones and help your skin. good luck everyone.
