This works well for the smaller pimples, but my dern said the larger cystic acne won't be helped much by it, so I am also using the antibiotic doxycycline. After 6 mos of these two, I think the antibiotic works better - but my problem acne is definitely the big pimples. I also use Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask, which I leave on overnight and drastically reduces the swelling of most of these spots.

I have been using Differin, with a BP face wash and some Clindomyacin for a few years now, and am I am going to try and change to something else. I was put on Differin as regular retinoids seemed to dry out my face, and as is usual, after the first few months it seemed to work (with the occasional anitbiotics course). However, i am still getting long persistent cystic acne, and the Differin ain't doing a thing. I am in my 30s..and since i can't go off the other meds, well, I'm at a loss (so is my derm, who at our last apt, said why don't we try something we already tried, to see if it will work again). I don't see this as doing anything for me, and I can't get waxed due to skin sensitivity. I think two years is enough to say this stinks.

I have been using Differin for about six years. It works okay once you use it for a long time, but don't expect fast results. In fact, it made my skin worse before it got better. It also seems to make my skin very oily. Because I use it with another cream (Benzaclin) and oral antibiotics, I can't tell if the Differin is producing results, or if it's the other meds. I wouldn't recommend using it by itself. It's also very expensive if you don't have health insurance.

Ive read all these comments and ive just been prescribed it (differin aka adapalene)And it looks as though it works for some and doesnt for others. But what my dermatologist said to me was! It doesnt work straight away it takes a few months! and all of these comments are expecting next day results! Im pretty sure your dermatologist said that the results are not immediate. Differin prevents the start of the spot so that annoying little bump doesnt turn into a full blown spot. I hope it does work. Cause ive had acne since i was 9/10 Im hoping my course of antibiotics differin, PanOxyl and dianette work! But i know i'll have to wait!

I'm going on two months with Differin at night, Benzaclin in daytime. So far, the Differin has made my normally mild acne HORRIBLE -- I have giant, hard, red blemishes all over my chin. My skin looks worse than it ever has in my life. I've stuck with the treatment, because I read that it is worse before it gets better, and at about 7 weeks I'm hoping the worst is over. However, today I went to my dermatologist who injected the larger blemishes with cortisone (which she says will reduce the size within 24 hours) and gave me an oral antibiotic to reduce the symptoms while the Differin is still causing acne. So if others are having similar problems, I recommend you go to your dematologist to see if they can help reduce the side effects of Differin. I wish I had called her when the symptoms starting getting bad, rather than waiting this long. The cortisone shot cost about $60-$100, but if it works to reduce the blemishes almost overnight (rather than the weeks it otherwise has been taking), I think it's well worth the money.

Although, I've only been using it for a month, I think that Differin is pretty good ... not a cure-all, but definitely an improvement. My breakouts didn't immediately go away upon starting treatment, but they are much smaller and much more manageable now. (Can cover up with concealer much better!) And my skin overall looks great, I'm very happy with that.
One thing that did happen is that I think that it made some of my skin more sensitive. I got an eyebrow wax a few weeks ago, and the waxing seemed to have pulled off part of my skin! I had blood red 'arches' around my eyebrows for a week! Even though I don't use Differin on my eyelids/eye area, I think the waxing 'injury' was somehow related to the Differin because I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for years and never had a reaction like that. My derm said that it was OK to get waxing while on Differin, but I'm not so sure after that experience.

I used Differin for four months...I think it actually made my acne worse. I used to have beautiful, clear skin on my cheeks and sides of my face. Now, I have whiteheads all over my cheeks that won't go away, as well as pimples and a few cysts that I never had before!!! I am going to my dermatologist tommarow to see if there is anything that can be done!! I am really depressed about my acne at this point and only want to go out if it looks good.

ive been using differin for about 4 months now. the doc said that my skin should clear up in a couple of months, but my acne was still the same. its been 4 months now and ive been takin diane 35 for about 3 and a half months along with differin. my acne is a lot better, its almost gone. although i still have blemishes and a couple of pimples. i have noticed improvement in the last two weeks mostly. my doc wanted me to use these two medications for atleast 4 months, and i was about to give up, but i thought that i should stick to it. now that ive noticed a lot of improvement, ill keep using both for a few more months and see if my acne totally clears up. so ya stick to it and it takes a few months to work. i use to switch prescriptions every month and see no results but now im just goin to stick to this. good luck.

i am on month two of differin and i cant take it anymore. my skin will clear up and have virtually no pimples for like two days, then it completely freaks out again for a couple of weeks-- like worse than it was when i wasn't on differin. ughhh...
