I have used differin for 2 years and it is alright. It helps to prevent breakouts but my skin gets red on my cheeks. It might just be my skin but it may make it red. Decent product.

I have a question. I have been on Differin for a few years and it had been working great but I'm honestly getting sick of using it every single night and having dry skin, etc, etc..... so what will happen when I STOP using it?? Should I expect a breakout? Or what? I'm ready to just be done with the stuff...

Full 12 weeks, no results other than continually making my acne worse. It's mild, but this gave me non-stop deep cysts. Worthless to me.

Hi y'all,

I have been prescribed this medication for 8 months but until recently had never taken it consistently! Every time I tried to take it for a few weeks, my skin would become awful and I decided the side effects were not worth the potential gain. In reading through some comments here, I wonder how many people who are so frustrated aren't being consistent over a long enough period of time. At age 25, I have tried most every treatment and have always seen my skin get worse before getting back to the way it was before treatment, without ever really improving. At this point, my acne has settled down to mild to moderate and I have come to grudgingly accept it.

Anyway, I am getting married in 10 months and this time I am determined to give it an honest go, now matter how badly it flares up in the meantime. So far, I have been using it 2 times per day for nearly 1 month. Let's say the results so far have been mixed. Before, I mostly had breakouts on my chin and along my jawline. Those cleared up pretty quickly with the Differin, but oddly enough, I am now getting dinosaur size pimples on my forehead (haven't had those in years) along with some near my nose. I have always squeezed pimples even though they tell you not to. Before, that worked pretty well, but now it feels like they NEVER heal! I just started taking erythromycin pills and am hoping that will help counteract these gigantic ones and speed up the healing process. I am seeing slight improvement in skin tone in some areas so far. Just hope that with consistency, this improves!!

After using it about a month (combined with oral antibiotics), my skin is now starting to clear up....alot. At first, it was a total nightmare. My skin was breaking out so bad, I didnt want to go out and face the world. But now, its starting to clear up. Im looking at by next month, my skin should be the way it was a one time. Just be patient and give it time.

Hi! I just wanted to encourage all you Differin users out there - I kno a lot of the comments posted here are negative, but for me, Differin has truly worked. Im a 17 years female and i started using Differin about 3 and a half months ago. Before I started the medication my worse acne spot was on my forehead - mainly numerous tiny whiteheads and little bumps. I also had a tiny bit of acne of my cheeks.
During my first week of using Differin my skin cleared up almost immediately, my skin toen seemed much more even, and my skin was smoother. However, a week later, my acne became worse and worse. Huge cystic sits began appearing on the sides of my face -- where I had never ever had acne before! During these first two months I became very depressed whenever I looked at my face and saw the horrible red pimples on the sides of my face and the scars previous ones had left behind. However, I kept using the product, and now, after almost 4 months, my skin is looking ABSOLUTELY beuatiful. The scars are fading and the only time I get a noticeable pimple is during my period.
I really think Differin has made a difference. I wash my fdace morning and night with a gentle soap (Dove). I apply Differin every morning and use no other prescription products. I am so much more confident with my clear skin. I really liked Differin because unliek Retin-A which i had used before, it did not dry my skin out. I have pretty dry skin to begin with, so while Differin did make my skin slightly oilier, i do not feel that it has been much of a problem.
In conclusion, please please stick with this medicine for at least 6 months. I really think you will liek what you see if u give it a chance.

PS - WARNING: DO NOT APPLY DIFFERIN TO AREAS WHERE YOU DO NOT GET PIMPLES. IT WILL ONLY CAUSE U TO INITIALLY BREAK OUT IN THESE PLACES!!!!!

I just started using Differin Cream yesterday and I don't like it as much as the gel. I hope I don't break out because my face was real clear when i put it on. I had just a few little blemishes i wanted to get rid of. Damn psychiatrists caused my acne.

I love it! Got it as a trial for the acne on my neck two years ago when I was 38 but my insurance won't cover it because I'm too old. Anyways I do love it, it's the only thing that cleared it up and now it's worse than ever. My daughter is 12 and is getting acne also.

I used it a few years back. Seemed to work ok. I was on oral antibiotics at the same time.Recently my skin falred up real bad around the chin area and I decided to go back to the same doctor. He gave me Differin again and I am only on it for 2 days now. I have heard some people do break out initially but so far my existing pimples seemed to have flattened.
