This product, out of the millions that I have tried, is one of the worst ever. This product is horrible and it doesn't even dry your skin, it actually makes your skin horribly oily. It feels like you just smered vaseline all over your face. This product sucks. If you dermatologist tells you that he/she is going to put you on this product, say "I read that Differin sucks." And it does, it does nothing at all, I used it for 3 months and nothing happened. I was also taking Minocycline at the time and that product as well sucks. Because my acne stayed the same over the course of about 10 months and it made me so mad I wanted to punch whoever made both of them. I would highly recommend NOT getting a prescription from your dermatologist, the only reason that you should use this product is as a last resort. Don't "GET DIFFERIN."

I've had acne since I was in high school, and blackheads on my nose even before that--- probably as early as fourth grade. I had been on Erythromycin, and that helped somewhat, but the blackheads never went away. I was on birth control for awhile, and that REALLY helped, but once I stopped taking that, the acne came back with a vengeance-- and I'm in my mid-twenties. Now, I'm on Evoclin Foam (day) and Differin (night).
I get the impression that a lot of people are using this product every night. My dermatologist told me to only apply it once every three or four days, and over the course of about six months, gradually work up to a once-nightly regimen. If you start by applying it every night, your skin will get red, itchy, and may even burn. Differin is very drying.
I was leery of using a moisturizer as I have naturally oily skin. The dryer the better, right?? Well, peeling skin is no prettier than acne. If your skin becomes too dry, it will actually rev up its oil production to compensate; that may be the cause of some people experiencing especially oily skin. I use Cetaphil face wash and either Cetaphil or Neutrogena Sensitive Skin lotion.

this stuff sucks!!! I had mild acne, which was annoying at my age, so I went to the dermatologist for about the 1,000th time in 16 years. I finally tried Differin, and it didn't dry my face in the least. In fact, it was oilier than ever, and I broke out in huge cystic zits. WTF!! The effect was basically that of rubbing a layer of Crisco all over my face. What a worthless product.

I've had mild acne in the past, and still do (except the last two weeks), and now I've been using Differin for a few months. What I've noticed is that Differin alone never helped, but together with some Benzaclin, I am Scot-free (knocks on wood). The type of acne I used to get were really annoying and lumpy cysts on my forehead. I think a always execerbated them due to constant attempts to pop the. I'm lucky that my acne was never bad and I have no scars. Aside from that, i'm quite happy and unusually sightly with my new found clear skin. As I said, i don't know which of the two are doing the job. Prior to that, i was using Tretinoin for well over a year without anything else to aide me, and this never really helped much, despite higher doses and concentrations. I did notice that Benzyl Peroxide helped, and when I told this to my pimple popper MD, he suggested the Benzaclyne. Thus, i am suggesting it to you, as a support for the differin.
One problem I experience is constant flakiness of the skin; vitamin A derivatives (differin), result in skin having a higher turn over rate, and thus it sheds quicker. The peroxide, dehydrates my skin--not to mention the rubbing alcohol base that benzaclyne comes in. So if you have dry prone skin, i advice you to be careful. However, this is nothing that isn't fixed with or cared for by 2ice weekly scrubbing and using a powerful moisturizer in the mornings before applying the benzaclyne. I personally use a moisturizer that has some oil content--you just have to be sure it's non-comodogenic.
To whomever complains of Differin's knack for producing oily skin--use it at night as opposed to mornings; your skin is only oily during the time it is on your face, especially an hour or so after you've applied it. This is not a permanent side affect. Thus, if you apply it at night, you'll only have to worry about getting your pillow oily, and there is nothing hard about changing the sheets every now and then ... :-)

I had started breaking out horrifically after using the Murad system. I had these miniscule bumps under my skin which eventually great into massive cysts. Nice eh? I went to my dermotologist and he promised the only thing that would work was accutane. Since i had done my research i decided the side effects were too great, and i was not going to risk the depression and liver problems. I asked him to give me differin, an oral anti-biotic (doxy), and Duac ( clindomycin and benzoyl peroxide mix). The first month my skin had it out with me, month 2 got much better and i am nearing the end of my third month and have not work make up for two weeks. Even the scars are gone. Thank god...I plan on staying on differen for good but weaning myself off of the other medication. Oh and in the first month your skin is flaky, red and super coarse but exfoliate gently and in time your skin will naturally learn to adjust to the change with the right oil production.

I have been using Differin for 7 months now. For the first three months, my acne skyrocketed. My skin was actually near-perfect right when I started using it, and then it got so bad that my entire face felt like a burning, rocky landscape. Right around the fourth month, it started to get better. I felt good enough to at least go out and not feel like people would label me as "the girl with acne". But it still has not *improved* my skin. Maybe I was better off not using Differin at all. And right now, at my 7th month, the entire right side of my face is just like it was back in my 3rd month: completely devastated.

I think this products works good on mild acne. It didnt really start working well until i started usuing klaron as well. As so for thoise shots someone else was tlaking about, i have gotten them before and what they do is they just inject this tiny liquid into ur cyst and it goes away in about 2 or 3 days. it doesnt hurt at all

After using it for 1 week, my acne start to clear up, but the side effects are the worst i've ever seen. I wouldn't recommend it, until you want to stay home for months...
Stridex and tanning from Differin sucks

This stuff ruined my face. I used to have mild acne, mostly being affected in my 'T-zone". I went to the regular doctor and he gave me some Differin samples. They worked for about 2 or 3 months until they ran out. I was off of it for about 2 weeks, during which my cheeks began to breakout worse than ever before. When I got more of it, I started right back like before but it only made it worse. I stuck with it for 3 months, hoping my acne would improve, but eventually I realized it wasn't going to help so I stopped. Differin changed my type of acne into something worse. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT
I talked to a few other people who have tried this and only one said it works for her. One out of the ten people I talked to. Everyone else said it either didn't work or, like it did for me, made their acne worse.

differin is a good product if you have just a little acne for people that have 30 zits or more it is not a good idea i have been using this for about 2 months and all it has done is made it worse not only dose it dry out your skin a lot but make it red also. if you don't have insurence it cost about $130 for 3 months.
here are the best tips for you don't pick at them. when you do it may cause scarring and may spread deeper into the pour. wash your face 3 times a day and keep hands of it may push oil back into your skin
