I've used differin for a couple years. I ran out of refills recently and couldn't get into my doctor right away, so I had about a 3-month period where I didn't use it. Once I stopped, I totally broke out!
While using it, it worked pretty well, but I never cleared up 100%. One thing I like about it is that it helps wrinkles. I look about 5 years younger (i'm 31) and I think it's becuase of differin.

Differin was AWFUL for me. It made my skin worse, it burned, and gave me more cysts than I have ever had before - ouch! The only good thing it did was clear up the pores on my nose, that is the ONLY reason I would use it again but for the rest of my face it is hell. It's been two monthes since I used it last and the cysts just keep coming on.

I am 24 and dealing with acne for the first time in my life! It is so devastating and really brings down your self-esteem. My dermotologist instructed me to wash my face with CeraVe which I love so far. I also use the same brand face lotion. You can find it at any drugstore (usually sitting next to cetaphil on the shelf). I also use differin before bed. I have been using this system for the last 3 weeks. It seemed to get a little worse at first but I feel like it is finally starting to clear up. It is worth a try!

A few comments.......
you can't take while using Differin... it makes your skin a lot more sensitive to light.
you can't get your eyebrows waxed if you're on any form of antibiotics (which dermies often prescribe along with differin). Also, Differn makes your skin ultra sensitive which is why people have problems when they get waxed. In the Differin directions, it tells you not to wax in the general area you are treating.
Also, I have been on Differin and antibiotics for about 5-6 weeks and it is incredible. It has made my face a little dry but it is significantly less oily, I have had no breakouts after the initial 2 weeks, and my skin is clearing up incredibly fast and my pores are pretty much shrinking. However, I did not have bad acne- just trouble controlling breakouts. I think it's def worth trying.

I just started using differin gel. it did make my face worse for about 3 days, but after that it started getting better. It does make my skin oily (which is so aggrevating) , so i only apply it to the affected areas and and keep it away from my T-zone. I use Tiaz pads along with purpose soap in the AM & PM and the differin gel only at night. My skin is pratically clear.

i have the whitehead type acne around my chin and lips, the type where if you stretch the skin you'll see a tiny whitehead that will hang around for months before turning into a pimple, then shrink down into a whitehead again and be dormant for another 6 months. i started using the combination of benzaclin and differin as instructed by the doctor - it only dried out my skin and the "recurring pimple" problem continued. i looked around the internet and found some stuff that said DO NOT use the combo of Benzaclin (or any benzynol peroxide product) and Differin - benzynol peroxide actually works against the Differin.
so i took the chance and stopped using the benzaclin. i started applying the differin alone 2 times a day and it definitely made a difference. the whiteheads quickly flared into pimples, and my face looked the worst ever, but i figure it was because Differin actually OPENS UP THE PORES in your skin. the initial flareup was as if my skin was purging itself. it was disgusting with a ton of pus, but after my skin would be clear of the whitehead, which equals a success. Benzynol peroxide just dries it out- the pimple disappears, but the same whitehead stays.
ive been using Differin a little over 4 weeks now and it seems to be clearing up the problem by allowing the whiteheads to open up. but i don't know if my skin will develop a resistence to the product.
My theory - Differin is a product meant mainly to open up tiny pores that a clogged by whiteheads. Benzyclin is used to dry out acne. i do get an occasion random pimple on my cheek or forehead, where ill use Benzaclin - and it works. But using differin on my cheeks or forehead areas does nothing.
im giving a moderate rating because i dont really know how long the product will continue to work.
