Well I have mild acne and I went to my dermatologist and she put me on minocycline 100 mg a day and prescribed me differin and told me to stop washing my face with proactive because it was getting worse so she recommended me to buy dermalogica special cleansing gel and active moist moisturizer so I've been using it so far for about 6 days and I have'nt seen any improvement but it takes time it has to get use to your skin at first then you most likely will get incredible results so thats my story and i will follow up thankyou.

since i was 15 i've experience very mild acne, but it was really frusterating cus i play alot of sports and i HATE to wear foundation. i tried BP but that worked at first then i got a HORRIBLE ALLERGIC REACTION!!! i've heard it does work for some ppl..but test it out first to make sure ur not allergic...so now i'm trying differin which i gto from my doctor and it is WAY better on my skin... maybe a bit dry but nothing compaired to the BP which makes u FLAKE!! (eww) just mosterize and its a perfect alternative...the first 2 week using differin i saw no change whatsoever...then on week three i got a bad breakout just like a lot of ppl said would happen. It was like my skin was being pruged...usually when i get a pimple there would be a white bump first but this time they where red and flat and just popped out of no where...now on week 3 and a half its definately getting better...it says it take bout 8 weeks so i will wait to see further improvements and post them later. ill bee really excited if it goes well cus my grad is coming up!!! also some more adivise if ur using or planning on using differin...
1)don't waste ur money on some stupid expensive cleanser...they're a SCAM..and they aggrivate ur skin...i just use goat soap ( you can use any gentle moisturizing soap that is FRAGRANCE free) which cost bout $2 a bar and then an oil free moisturizer. if the mosturizer is still to oilly u can apply it then dab off the extra with some tissue
2)wear sunscreen!...i went snowboarding and i forgot to put on sunscreen...and my skin got really aggrivated from the wind/cold/sun. differin makes ur skin more sensitive so protect it when ur on this medication!
3)dont pop ur pimples...okay therea re SOME expections but on teh whole its a big NONO.. i use to do this and it was hell on my skin...do ur skin a favor!
goodk luck to everyone and i will make another post in a few weeks!

Since I joined the military, my skin has gradually become worse, I think it has something to do with the climate change in all the different parts of the world I go to, pro-active worked for a while then just quit on me... I was put on Differin(pm), combined with Clindamycin(am) and Minocycline(100mg twice a day) about four weeks ago, it gets worse but it seems to be getting better now... i'll post results again in week 8.

I used Differin for about a year. My doctor prescribed me the cream at the lowest concentration because my acne is fairly mild. It worked well in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide, but it wasn't anything particularly incredible. I still broke out now and then. I even recall seeing a cystic lesion one time. I must stress, however, that I was using the weakest variety possible. A stronger version would have probably worked much better for me. Overall, it's decent.

works at first, but stops working after a few months.

I only use it to clear up a mild break out. I can't use it all the time because it would dry my skin out making the acne worse. I tried the holistic approach and eliminated certain foods and added vitimans to my diet. That helped. It's not an everyday use thing. It makes my skin peel and catches the pimple before it leaves a scar.

I was using differin and a benzoyl peroxide wash. It made my acne REALLY BAD for a stretch of about 3 weeks. Then my skin started peeling, BAD. But I'm not the type to sit around and cover my face. So I simply told my close friends about my flaky face and told them to tell me when it looked bad. I carried around a thick facial moisturizer, which I had to break out every hour or so, and even more at parties and such. Anyway, my acne cleared a little, but was no better than it before I started using it.

I have been on differin for two months now and it has only made my skin worse. I was told my face would start to clear up in about four weeks but after a month and a half I was experiencing red blotches all over my face, which I've never had before this. So yesterday my derm put on Klaron and Yasmin. Has anyone tried these two? Think they will work for me?

I'm on week 8 of the treatment and so far it's made my skin WORSE THAN EVER. I had mild to moderate acne when I started the treatment (in combination with Clindamycin) and now my acne can definitely be classified as severe. I've had a rash-like breakout on my cheeks ever since I started using it, and it only seems to be getting worse and worse. I never had acne on my cheeks before - only on my forehead, which has remained unchanged. I don't know what to do. I really want to stop the medication but from what I've read I guess I should stick with it for at least 12 weeks. I guess I'll wait another month and hope for the best, but I've been hoping for 8 weeks and my acne has only been getting worse. It's really embarrassing and is pretty much ruining my life.

O.K. This has got to be the best my skin has ever been.. I have officially been on Differin for a month now and my skin has improved dramatically. Even on the cystic acne. I stopped using the benzyl peroxide simply because it sucked.. and i tappered off of the doxy (tired of the yeast infections..common side effect) and started washing my face with phisoderm and using the differin twice a day. Anyway.. thanks to who ever talked about waxing.. i never new that.. Maybe if i did I wouldnt be dealing with trying to heal my eye lids right now from my skin being stripped off during an eyebrow wax.. Thanks anyway..
