My acne's moderate/severe.

I've been using Differin with B.P. and Doxycycline (I'm also taking vitamin E and Omega 3) for four weeks now, and here's what happened to me:

I had no indication of my acne getting worse for the first bit at all. It just went better and better. My skin tone looked much less red and inflammed. There was a slight decrease in the number of pimples I got...and my skin simply looked healthier. I had no side effects at all, just a mild tightening of skin after application. Oh, and all my blackheads are gone.

But now... in my forth week, I started to get cystic acne on my cheeks. Huge, ugly bumps filled with pus. Yeah, gross. After draining them a little, (Okay, BIG BAD NO-NO, I know) I applied B.P. straight away, and it all healed up real fast. If I didn't drain 'em....they'd persist for weeks. And I can't be bothered to go to the derm.

My theory about the unexpected cysts is this: Stress over my O level examinations, PMS, nasty junk food I've been taking.

I think Differin doesn't help much with pimples per se, but it's wonderful for blackheads. My nose looks great- apart from the huge cyst that grew a few days ago. Oooh. And I think they might have helped with the red marks. But that might be the vitamin E. Who knows. (:

I've been using this product for over a year now, i had pretty bad acne and this seems to control it. I also take menocycline (a pill a day) my acne is not cured but i dont have much anymore. Everyone that is just starting differin gel should give it time because it doesnt make a difference right away but if u stick with it, it can help.

I know it says on the information sheet that it does make you initially break out within the first few weeks of taking it and then it's supposed to clear up your skin, but I had mild acne and was just looking for clearing of a few spots. While using this, the first two weeks I was on it I broke out worse than I ever had before, I mean it was horrible, my whole face was bumpy and red, and PEELING. I'd never experienced something so gross in my life on my face! Not to mention it hurt. I expected things to clear up as they were supposed to, so I kept using it for a 2 months and my skin just got worse and worse with every use. My face was bright red, dry, and zits were popping up non stop. I recently went back to my derm and my acne is not considered moderate/severe, so I'll probably try a new medication, like an oral one, and hopefully it'll clear this damage up. I should've been happy with the skin I had, I regret ever complaining about it and going on Differin. Didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you.

I didn't think Differin worked to clear up acne but it does work to "erase" the marks left after acne has cleared up.

I suffered from moderate acne and was prescribed Differin gel about one year ago. After about a month of increased breakouts, it worked amazzzingly. The reason why you get the initial breakout is because the Differin IS working by eliminating the previously unSEEN lesions that would occur sooner or later. I think the month was well worth the wait. I rarely get any breakouts anymore; just when I'm premenstrual, so I take minocycline for a week or so. Differen did make my face red and dry at first, but now my face has much better tone than it ever has had before. Trust me, it is well worth the wait!

If I could find the guy who came up with Differin...

I would give him a gigantic kiss! I "grew into" acne at age 18, and have tried dozens of treatments over the last six years. With other meds, my only results were vomiting, peeling, and a much lighter wallet.

I've been on Differin gel since last Monday (10 days) and my skin is 75% cleared up. I had the slightest bit of dryness, but Neutrogena moisturizer took care of that very quickly.

I can't wait to run into some old friends or go running around town. I've spent so many years crying, being upset, and feeling that my plague will never go away. The self-confidence that I've gained in less than two weeks is amazing.

My only regret is that I didn't get Differin gel sooner.

I have been using Differin for almost 3 months now(along with Doxycycline), and haven't really seen a change in my skin. I'm still breaking out full force and have recently started devloping acne on my neck. I go back to the dermo in about 3 weeks and I'm requesting a stronger gel. I have had many friends use Differin and it has worked for them, but say that Differin is better in keeping acne away once it has already cleared.

I have been dealing with moderate acne since I was 13 (now 22) and have tried at least a form of everything under the sun short of Accutane to "cure" my acne. My latest treatment after a year off of prescription medications has been Differin gel with Klaron lotion twice a day. I have been on this routine for 3 months now and after the intial breakout period (which was horrible for a month)has been very good. My normally dry, senstive has had almost no issues with the differin, and with a little of the Klaron in not dry in the least, which was a suprise and a big relief to me!! The Differin gel has worked wonders for most of my face and now I have just have a couple of problem spots to deal with, so keeping my fingers crossed that this will keep working for some time!! Overall, not perfect but very pleased!!

I have been using Differin gel once a night along with Klaron in the morning and Minocycline pills twice daily. I've been taking them all together for 8 weeks now and no change at all. They said to give it 8-10 weeks, and I'm nearly there. I have an appointment to go back to the dermatologist to talk to her about it and see if I should switch to something else. :\
