This combination worked for me, as presrcribed by my dermatologist: 1) differin before bed 2) clindamycin antibiotic lotion in the day and 3) minocyclin antibiotic pills twice a day. Kind of hard to remember to take all these, but it worked very quickly - I noticed slightly smoother skin after only 2 days, significantly better after 1-2 weeks (although there are still those gray-purple leftover marks). It did not, as with other medicines I have taken, trade off pimples for red, flaky skin. Rather, it made my skin smoother and softer, so I would rate it very high in terms of agreeability. long-term effectiveness yet to be seen.

DIFFERIN sucks!!!!! Differin, plus Deoxycycline(pill), and Triaz 6% Benzoyl peroxide wash made my skin go from little white heads to cystic lesions in just two weeks. Now I won't come out of my room and I cry everyday. I hope differin disapears out of the universe. I fell like crying right now just thinking about it.

I used benzaclin and differen for a year. One thing that I was incredibly pleased with my dermatologist about is that she slowly introduced the differen--I was already on benzaclin, which had cleared up my acne cysts, but bumpy blackheads remained, for which she prescribed the differen. I started using differen once during the first week, twice during the second week, three times during the third week, and so forth until I was up to using it every day. This GREATLY helped reduce my redness and dryness, and because my skin was already used to benzaclin I did quite well. The combination of benzaclin and differen completely wiped out the bumpy blackheads and associated acne cysts that had made my face look so unpleasant for awhile, and I couldn't be more pleased.

I used tetracycline for about a year and I got rid of my acne. After three years i am bursting like a teenager. I am using differin along with oral medication ( tetra cycline)for about 4 weeks now . I had mild acne before using differin but after using this cream i see huge bumps every morning i get up. I am 30 years old i am not suppose to burst like a teenager. The bumps are huge in size and wont even dry for day's. They take forever to dry. I dont know how long will differin take to kick in. I am not sure if I should continue using it or not. .

I have been using the Differin gel for about year(I am now 15), and it has been working quite well for me. People must make note that Differin prevents future acne, not current acne. I didn't notice a difference in my face for about two months and then it kept getting better. I still get occassional pimples on certain areas of my face, but otherwise it works very well. I'd reccommend it, as long as your dermatologist does as well, but like I said don't expect super fast results.

Ive been on it 3 weeks and my skin is oily and shiny as hell. Im going through the breakout still, come up with 2 big dirty cysts and a few weird big bumps id never had before on upper cheek. but slowly the breakout is healing and it is apparently my last breakout, hopefully. I wish I could give this product a 5, but i cant. In my experience with these boards, everyone has said wait until 2-3 months to see the results. people have claimed the brekaout was worse then mine, they stuck with it and 8-12 weeks they are clear. Good luck with all of you.

do not use differin!!! its the worst acne medicine ever. i have very mild acne - maybe one or two here and there and my doctor decided to put me on differin and a pill. i've been using it for 8 weeks now and i cant believe how bad that gel works. my face has broken out so much from using that. i thought it would get better and it hasn't. i'm going to tell my doctor to change my medication. i havent seen any good results from it. i do not recommend it at all

Sounds like Differen is not working at all for most people. You don't need to suffer through weeks or months of inflamed acne hoping and praying your medicine is going to eventually work. Heck no! This is what cleared up my skin completely after 20 years of acne:

1) Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) - take several grams a day for at least a month then taper off to a maintenance dose (I take one gram in the AM and another in the PM). Google B5 and Acne and read the results of studies that show it helps your body process fats rather than expel them through the skin. The zits will start to heal from WITHIN, which is amazing to see! Cheapest place to buy B5 is Viatmin Shoppe. It is worth the money, trust me.
2) Lathering cleanser that contains Tea Tree oil. Use morning and night. Rinse super well.
3) Prescription drugs: Clindamycin and Azelex Cream.
4) Under makeup, I use Benzoyl Peroxide. (You might not need it but I like it.)
4) St. Ives Medicated scub - really cheap at any drug store and it keeps your skin smooth

I know how hearbreaking it is to have spots all over your face. I have tried just about everything and this has kept me clear for going on 3 years. I have had a total of maybe 6 zits in that time and all of them dissolved from within instead of breaking through and causing scarring.
