I NEVER brokeout once on Differin. My skin was awful for a period of about 6 months (what brought this on I still dont know, my acne had always been mild until this) and within a few days of Differin and Benzaclin I was nearly clear. Thats not to say my skin looked good, the combo of meds had made my skin red, itchy and oily. But its better than acne and easier to cover up so Ill just keep using it.

I love this stuff from VA

I went to a Dermatologist for the first time about 4 months ago. I am 25 and had very mild acne in high school which has progressed to moderate as an adult. For the most part, my skin was usually clear, but for the past few years I would constantly have 1-5 pimples (usually painful) on my forehead, jawline, or chin.

My Dermatologist recommended Differin cream instead of gel because my skin is fair and pretty sensitive. She also recommended Cleocin as a topical antibiotic. I wash with an oil-free cleanser (she also told me to discontinue any face product, including makeup, that contains oil) and apply Differin at night, then a mild oil-free moisturizer. In the morning, apply the Cleocin and the moisturizer after washing.

After reading reviews on sites like this, I was really nervous about using Differin! But this stuff worked like nothing I have ever tried. Within a few days, my skin started to clear, and I never experienced acne worsening. My skin tends to be a bit shinier now, but not oily - actually just a lot softer and smoother in general.

I can't imagine ever going back. This stuff has worked miracles for me.

My 14 yr was prescribed a combo of Differin and Benziclin.
After a week her face literally exploded with horrible red bumps and pimples where she had never had them before. We continued for 4 weeks as it was supposed to get better. After reading some of the messages on this site we decided to discontinue the Differin. She stayed on the Benziclin at night also using AHA lotion (the red box stuff). I read on another site that the combo of BP and the AHA lotion was supposed to be very successful for treating acne. The trick is after washing your face, let it dry COMPLETELY before applying the BP product and then let the BP dry COMPLETELY before applying the AHA lotion. She is also using Complex 15 moisturizer (sold at CVS) during the day. Complex 15 is the best kept secret, cheap - $7.49, and really keeps her face from getting oily by the end of the day. Anyway, after 4 days on this new regime her face is almost completely clear. Amazing!

Differin gel did wonders for my skin. I apply only at night and use benzaclin during the day. Initially I was only using the differin gel.

At first my skin grew worse. Every blackhead and whitehead I had under my skin erupted, you think it is not working but it is. Making all the old acne come up is how the drug works. After that my skin has been clear and smooth. I only get pimples when I stop using. It also caused some of my scars to lighten up.

I was on Tetracycline for a month, and my face just didn't seem to change for the better. So, once my perscription from Tetracycline had only 3 days left for me to take, I called the doctor and told him about my experience on Tetracycline. So, he put me on Doxycyline and Differin. I am amazed with the results so far!!!!!! I am 23 years old and have been battling persistant mild/moderate acne since the end of my 9th grade year. I began to develop cystic and nodular acne at 23. I would get one or two of them at the same time along my jaw line, or on my cheeks. I have tried just about everything imaginable that was otc, spa related, &/or home remedies. I am currently taking Doxy twice a day, and am applying Differin at night only. (I only apply Differin on the spots that tend to be persistant with acne- NOT ALL OVER MY FACE). Since I've been doing this, my face has one small pimple near my hair line, but my hair hides it. I don't have any bumps on my jaw line like I used to, and am pimple free everywhere else (granted that one that I just told you about)
My regimen goes like this:
A.M.-wash my face using the Exposed system (follow their directions for use)
Eat Breakfast
Take my birth control,Zinc, B&C vitamins
Wear tinted moisture SPF15 (Aveda) as my sunblock and for mild coverage. Then, I apply Neutrogena on-the-spot concealer to my problematic areas (This is oil free and has a low does of medication in it)
Lunch-
I make sure I take the Doxycycline 2 hrs after I have taken my vitamins, and also before/after I eat my lunch
Late Afternoon-
Take another Doxycyline either 2 hrs before/after I eat. Wash my face with a mild cleanser (Purpose), and then apply Differin to my trouble spots only. I take the Exposed night cream and apply it to all other areas that the Differin is not applied on.

--A mild cleanser(such as Purpose) before the use of Differin is crutial!
Once you get into a routine, it comes naturally, and isn't time consuming. (We all wash our faces)

I just started using this 2 weeks ago along with a oral medication. So far, I hate it. I put it on at night and wake up with more white heads then I had the day before. It keeps making my acne worse and worse. I didn't have acne when I was younger and not have it as an adult (i'm 24). I keep trying to have faith but it just makes me break out more. It also makes my skin oily.
