Differin is a retinoid product which works after about 4 weeks of use. A reinoid agent is like getting a dermabrasion from a creme, but it happens REALLY SLOWLY. If you got a dermabrasion every night your face would be like raw meat. Using Differin every night means it happens gradually, taking off the blackheads and old skin over time. That's why they have you use it for a while. That's why you have to keep using it. It doesn't work in daylight, BTW. Sunlight breaks down Differin. Doesn't anyone educate their patients anymore? I'm just a nurse who also has acne so I've been there. Using Cetaphil is a GREAT idea. Best cleanser there is!! My acne improved so much after I switched to Cetaphil--just FYI.

I have had pimples for about 7 years. I nearly got rid of them a few years ago using a combo of benzoyl peroxide gel and cetaphil in the morning, and isotrex at night, along with antibiotics. I have been getting worse lately so i got some more antibiotics, but decided to try a differnt cream at night thinking something better would have been on the market by now. Dont get me wrong, i reckon the isotrex worked great, i just thought something else might be better. Wrong! This Differin crap has brought up heaps of little bumps, and it seems like if i apply to a relativly pimple free area to treat one pimple, more pop up where i put the cream! I have only been using for about a month, but for me, i would not recommend it.

To be honest, Differin is just another proactive. Both companies have spent millions of dollars on commercials and advertisement, when the products only works for 1 out of 10 people. I tried this stuff after using Clindoxyl Gel and it just made my skin irritated, red and dry. The product I recommend the most are Olay Deep Cleansing Pads along with the application of Clindoxyl Gel after washing your face morning and night. All in all Differin isn't exactly what its said out to be in my opinion. My skin has never looked more clear ever since I started using them. Good luck everyone :)

My doctor recomended me to try this so I did but for me it made more harm than good. Not everyone can handle this medicine. I must of had an allergic reaction to it. My face became red like I had a rash and the medicine caused me to break out. I was using it for a couple months and thought it was just me getting used to it but I'm glad that I stopped using it. Right away my pimples started to go away. Because of this medicine I now have a lot of scars. The medicine also made my skin look shinny even when it wasn't oily. I would think twice if you are considering this medication.

Seven months ago, I had terrible cystic breakouts that occupied every inch of my face. After trying every over-the-counter treatments (which includes Pro-active), I finally consulted a dermatologist. She started me on Evoclin (Clindamycin)in AM and Differen Gel at night. I also started using Cetaphil cleanser, changed my moisturizer to Philosophy Hope (it has lactic acid that slough off dead skin) and switched my make-up from Lancome to Bare Minerals. After a month, my acne started to clear up. I think Differen worked in conjunction to the other changes that I made for my skin. Now I'm happy to say, I don't have to hide my face! Just be patient...

I have used Differin on and off for about a month. My acne flairs up once a month and that is when I get frantic and begin using Differin again. I really have not been an avid user continuously. I find that this works in conjunctions with medical grade peels from my dermatoligist.

I have been using differin for a few months and it looked like it was starting to work. I didn't stop using it or anything and out of nowhere broke out on both sides of my chin and jaw. I don't understand it.

What people need to realize here is that what works for one, may not work for another. I wouldn't tell people NOT to use Differein because it made my skin bad. Just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for the next person. Personally, I went to the dermatologists and he prescribed Differin and Triaz Cleanser for me. At first, I was all worried because I kept hearing all of these bad reports on it. True enough, it did get a little worse,(as I was told it would) but now its starting to pay off. Nothing happens over night and I would suggest if you are using differin and its not getting any better for you, don't stop because if you do, it may get EVEN worse. Just go back to your doctor and tell him/her that its not working FOR YOU and he/she may recommend something else. Don't just stop.
