I started using differin about 5 months ago,
I had pretty bad acne on my cheeks, chin and jaw line.
I literally tried everything. I went to the derm. and he first gave me retin-a. it destroyed my skin. DONT BUY IT!! My skin started peeling everywhere and getting really red. Differin is definately a more gentle way to help your acne. I must say my skin has cleared up for the most part. I get break outs every now and then but nothing like before. I hope this medicine continues to help me and that my skin wont come immune to it. But overall this is a really good product and the only thing that has worked for me :)

I agree 100% with the previous comment. (lol don't wash 5 times a day) wash once in the morning and night and use adapalene wherever you need at night. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. I use mild hand soap at night and a 10% benzyl peroxide in the morning. Mind over matter!! and don't concern yourself with acne too much, be patient but take action.

There are lot of good comments here about this product. It is a bit like proactive in the sense that is a bit hyped by the company that produces it. BTW proactive is a waste of money, useless, and is manipulated on the public, DO NOT BUY IT. One would be better off with a more general, cheaper, over the counter face wash (and be precistant). It is not for severe acne (trust me) and very very expensive. That aside, and I do apologize for the ranting; differin is a nice alternative to other harsher retinoids. It has offered me some good results, but I have been using it daily for about three months. My side effects:

my acne got a little worse (some cystic acne which as already mentioned is embarrassing and painful) I actually had to put a bandaid on my face with neosporin to compensate for the swelling and some bleeding, no scars...

my skin is a bit more oily but it is hard to say if it is worse because it has been bad for some time

over this product has helped, although has not been an exact answer i have a follow-up with my derm soon and will most likely ask for something a bit different maybe retin-a....

best wishes

I was on Benzaclin before my Derm put me on this. My skin wasn't dry/red/peeled,etc, nor did my acne get worse...it basicially just stayed the same until the end when I noticied it did get worse. I thought it was pretty useless, but it does seem to work for some people.

This product actually worked for me. I can't keep my mouth shut. I wanna tell the world. My face is actually clear. My insurance pays for half of it. So i only pay 15 dollars. MyGod, after all the struggling from buying this and that and going here and there. This gel is a MIRACLE worker. It says what it'll do. At first my acne got worst((my cheeks and forehead)), and there was dryness. Now, it's all gone because, it brought them all to the surface. This product helped me out ! I use benzyol cleanser morning and night, along with a salicylic acid toner, then differin ((only when i know i'm not going anywhere), and a moisturizer with SPF. Sometimes i use euerin calming cream if my face is to dry or itchy. IT WORKS !! YAY.

I've been on it for 6 weeks. I'm going to tell my Derm that I hate it and that if anything it's made my adult acne worse. I was anticipating it getting "worse before better" and it did. I never had cyst acne till I started using this. Now I have just as much acne as before only with tons of deep purple scars. The pimples become so sore that if they are rubbed the wrong way they pop and then bleed profusely. It's embarrassing and disgusting. Definitely not the "great medication" my doctor had suggested.

This the most exciting product! I am absoulutely thrilled with its progress. Nothing has worked on my skin this week and im wrapt, its like a chemical peel but an inexpensive. Be warned though, as it 'flares up' your acne first, dont expect for things to get WORSE BEFORE THEY GET BETTER. It also makes your skin red and raw but afterwards its amazing. My skin is actually luminous and smooth, its so exciting, ive been suffering from acne for at least 6 years and ive never seen my skin this good! LOVE IT, GIVE IT A SHOT!

my doctor put me on Benzaclin during the day, and both BP & Differen at night, after about 3 weeks my acne has persistantly gotten worse, i have been trying to find a daily cleansing regime, because it doesnt seem to be working i try to make sure i apply enough of these creams, i dont know if thise made it worse but my face often becomes notably crustation when using the Benzaclin in the day, after frustration weeks i had no choice but to turn to over the counter products, i have been taking 'natures cure' male pills as well as any non-comoedgenic concealer such as suposive 'eleminating spot gels', please help, i have been using aveeno calming moistureizer, maybe i am scrubing to often, i dont know, i like to use clearasil exfoilating beeds, im so fustrated and i keep getting nasty pimples i have to sqeeze out a beed of white and then bleed... i dont even like to look at myself in the mirror any more
