i have used so many different types of acne tratments over the past 6 years and have seen virtually no improvement. i started to use duac a few months ago and saw resulrs straight away but then the acne came back. i usually suffer on my face, neck, chest and upper back but recently it appeared on my arms and lower back so i went to see my dermatologist and he prescribed differin gel and clindamycin tablets. ive been taking these for a couple of weeks now as well as the duac and my acne on my back is getting a bit worse but other than that im having no problem. im just going to keep at it and wait to see an improvement. my doctor gave me hibiscrub to use as a soap substitute and that really hepls as it kills bacteria, i think its what surgeons use to wask their hands before operations! i think different things work for different people but im feeling more confident about my new routine. i also only use mineral make up bacause it doesnt clog my pores or make me feel cakey, plus its in powder form so you can use it whilst wearing duac.

I have been using Differin since March '06 and my break-outs only seem worse, especially around the chin. I am getting more cystic acne, too. I am 30 and gettting very frustrated to be dealing with acne at this stage of my life. I am thinking about stopping the Differin. I tried Retin-A and that also caused cysts.

I'm feeling really discouraged, I've been on differin and clindamycin for about a month and about a half; I have no been seeing any favorable results on my face. Infact, it made bigger pimples come out of my forhead when there were only tiny ones on it and not that many tiny ones either. I just really don't know whether I should keep going or stop the use.

I was started on Differin gel and Clindamycin creme 4 weeks ago by my dermatologist. Yes, yes, he warned me that during the first month or so, I would possibly have the biggest outbreak I've ever had and my face would look hideous. And that's exactly what I was expecting, from the Differin.
And I did break out, but minimally, and at the price of flawless skin ... did I really care? No.
The trick is, while using Differin at at nighttime, by using Clindamycin in the mornings ( and I hated having to do it, because it left my face feeling a little dry and caked up for the rest of the day .. but you just get used to it ), the initial flare-up was minimized greatly. The Differin pulls up all of the nasty stuff under your skin which should cause someone's skin to break out horrible, but the Clindamycin ( or probably many other over the counter or prescripting meds ) take care of it. I think that's the problem that most people are seeing; they're prescribed only Differin and then nothing to correct the multiple lesions that it causes.
So it sucked having a dry, irritated face for a few weeks, but moisturizing VERY often was the key to keeping it in good condition. Prior to the treatment, my nose was COVERED in blackheads, and my checks ( which were my only problem area ) were plagued with 10 or so pimples each ... not to mention my pores looked like crud. It's been four weeks, and while I was expecting to look like a monster by the one month mark, I seriously can't believe how flawless my skin is. Absolutely NO blackheads, minimized pores, glowing skin, rapidly fading acne scars and maybe one, tiny little pimple every few days ( and they're gone by the next morning, thanks to Clindamycin ). You guys seen the Proactiv commercial with Jessica Simpson? Yeah, that's how my skin looks now, and I absolutely love it.
Ask your doctor to prescribe you Clindamycin in conjunction with Differin, and the initial flare-up should be more than tolerable. The irritation and dryness go away within 3 weeks or so, and although I know a lot of people would opt to cover up the wreckage of the initial breakout with makeup .. just bear with it for a few weeks and let your natural skin show through. Just stick with it, and it works. :) Yay for beautiful skin!

this product made me break out a ton in the begining and eventually the acne went away but then the blackheads came back and never went away, then my face became extremely greasy and i couldnt handle it, this product sucks and i am strongly against it, if u want blackheads and a really greasy face this product is great

After using Differin for about 2 months there is a big difference in my skin. My acne is almost completely gone. I have been haunted by acne for 4 years and had given up hope that anything could help until my boyfriend discovered Differin! My face is almost completely clear and I have gotten back my confidence. It has changed my life. I am so much happier now and feel much better about myself. Everyone in my life can see the diffeerence and makes comments on how clear my face is. I am proud to tell them that I use Differin. I am a 27 year old female and my conclusion from reading this message board is that Differin works great for adult acne but not so good for teens. Good luck! (Chok Di)
