| Pros | The gel gives a cooling effect on inflammatory acne. Also I like that it dries acne up and leaves a scabish thing that flakes off in a few days. But that isn't instantaneous. I notice that these scabs form over a course of days. I like that it's not as extreme as tazorac because tazorac caused me to flake like there's no tomorrow even when using less an a pea sized amount. Differin works gradually to help repair the skin from underneath and as well prevent future breakouts. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Slow and gradual process but if you have acne like mine... it's worth the wait! Can be drying and you definitely might consider using a light moisturizer. |
| Bottom line | I haven't ever had an acne problem. Only dealt with a maximum of 3 to 4 pimples at one time. But suddenly this past november i broke out with hundreds on my cheeks and forehead. I'm also taking doxycycline 2 times a day (100mg) and Yaz birth control to help normalize my hormones (DHEA-S levels are at 5770 and testosterone at 101) which are really high for an adult female who's 22 years old. I may have pcos but I need further testing for that. All in all give Differin a shot. It may just help control your acne from getting worse. And if you have inflammatory acne it definitely helps the healing process but very gradually. Otherwise if you have zits I would go for it because it'll dry those suckers right up! Good Luck! |

| Pros | better skin in a week the lotion goes on clear smooth skin all pimples come to the surface decreases size of pimples overnight |
|---|---|
| Cons | dries out skin |
| Bottom line | I love this stuff. My derm gave it to me about a week ago and i use it along with prascion(facewash), and duac (in the morning), and a pill called dioxycylcine. My friends and family are commenting on how great my skin looks (which is awsome cause i used to have RLY BAD acne). all in all I love my regimen and highly recommend it to others. The drying out can be annoying but if u bring miosturizer with u its not a problem at all (i recommend CeraVe) |

| Pros | -pimples don't last as long and heal faster -fewer infected pimples -prevents some pimples from ever forming -all your acne comes to the surface |
|---|---|
| Cons | -all your acne comes to the surface (not pretty at first) -i still get some breakouts, especially around my menstrual cycle -takes a few months to really work (make sure you use regularly!) |
| Bottom line | Before i had terrible breakouts with pimples that would get infected and painful, especially on my chin and around/ on my nose. Ive been using the product for a little over 2 months, and my acne is now definitely more under control, though i still break out on my chin (pretty sure this is just all the hidden acne its bringing up from deep within my skin). Definitely heals pimples faster and helps with some scarring. With a prescription i paid 50 bucks, but it will last FOREVER because you really only use a tiny bit every night. Good product overall, takes some time to work, so be patient! |

| Pros | - it works - cheap (bought from neighboring Malaysia from Pharmacy) - one tube 30g can last forever, I think I can use until it expires. |
|---|---|
| Cons | - drying - initial breakout - needs prescription in Singapore - needs patience (takes months to see results) - scarring/marks (not sure if it's 'cause of my skin natural inclination or due to initial breakout - applying more than recommended dosage may worsen acne |
| Bottom line | Age 22, Asian, fair. Normal-dry skin with only 2-3 zits near menstrual period since teenage. Sudden adult acne from Feb 2010. (Stress + wrong use of products) Started differin gel from May 2010. Serious breakout from June-July 2010. Changed to differin cream in July. Forehead cleared since Aug 2010. Face still have persistent 5-8zits. Significant improvement now (November 2010) - face *almost* clear. Obvious acne marks still present though :( My face is still not totally clear but I have faith in this product as I do not use any other acne medicine (no other cream/oral med, wash is not acne specific). *please request for cream if possible *use AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE for best effect. i.e.apply a very thin layer as if it's smeared accidentally. It works better than the recommended 'pea-sized' dosage. |

| Pros | *Started working the first few days *Cheap (with insurance) *Doesn't dry skin *Only have to apply it before you go to bed |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I'm 20 and I have had acne since I was 13, used just about everything, over the counter stuff, home remedies, you name it. I finally went to the doctor after I just couldn't look at myself anymore without crying. The doctor prescribed me differin and doxycycline, after the first few days I could see results. I was so excited and I couldn't believe it. I eventually stopped taking the doxycycline cause it made me feel horrible and sick after taking it but I kept using the differin every night and besides for old acne scars...my face is clear. |

| Pros | -does clear skin (kind of) -easy to put on -cheap |
|---|---|
| Cons | -slimy and kind of gross -made my skin really funky horrible initial breakout -DOESN'T WORK WELL AT ALL -really bad scarring and i wouldn't scar before! |
| Bottom line | My skin was better before and although it purges the skin i would still break out. Ruined my skin and i hope it will go back to normal i'm stopping it today i've used it for 6 MONTHS. And at first it works kind of and you think oh if i stick with it it'll make my skin better but nope! |

| Pros | Less acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | Makes me scar, a lot! |
| Bottom line | I'm using Differin for 4 months and I recently discoverd that every zit I get while on this product, creates an indented scar! Aargh! I don't like acne... but scars are worse! Please let them go away... :-( |

| Pros | -Prevents/clears most of my breakouts -Has been the only medication that has actually helped me manage my acne -Only have to use once per day |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Very costly without insurance ($280 for 45 grams) -Drying -Burns/stings sometimes, even after 4 years of use |
| Bottom line | I've been using Differin 0.1% gel for about 4 years now, and although it has not completely cleared my acne, it has worked the best out of all the other products I've tried. I still get breakouts from time to time, and my skin is definitely not perfect, but it is certainly better than what it was. My major complaint is the dryness. My skin is somewhat sensitive, though, so others may not have the same issue. |

| Pros | clears up some acne eventually will lighten some scarring dries up cysts in a week (where w/o it would take months) no need of foundation |
|---|---|
| Cons | very drying constant moisturizing cannot wear foundation (even though I don't really need it anymore) |
| Bottom line | I used to have numerous dots on my forehead and had acne all on my cheeks. I still get a cyst occasionally and some pimples but its all from stress or hormones, but differin takes care of it within a week or 2. *always wear SPF and moisturize. *clean your face thoroughly to wash off differin when its the daytime. I've been using it for 4 years and its been doing good. |
