About me
I am 35. I suffered from acne for many years, since the age of 11 or 12, and managed to clear it up at about 24. I always felt that it held me back from living. I understand the depression that goes along with having acne. At times, it was all I could think about. You can read my personal acne treatment history here. You can also read about what I use on a daily basis.
Why did I make this site?
I read a book about ten years ago recommended by my friend Karen called "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by Deepak Chopra. Chopra talks about how you should ask yourself the question, "How can I best help other people?" The answer was immediate and apparent when I read that. "I should tell people how I managed to get my skin clear".
I took an html class and made a simple web page that described what I did to get clear, and put it on my Earthlink home page. Almost immediately, I started getting e-mails from people who were amazed at how well my regimen worked for them. Since the URL of that site was home.earthlink.net/~dwkern, and hard for people to remember, I decided to buy the name Acne.org. Since then the web site has grown as I continued my research and people from around the world have leant their expertise. We are now a team of people including Joel, Paul, Brandy, Rhonda, our moderators, and our volunteers.
Other info about me:
Born: Pennsylvania, 1972
College: James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, B.S. in Sociology (I am not a doctor)
Hobbies: Working out, playing sports, reading, singing, film making, drawing and painting, improv, eating sushi
Future acne.org plans: To get the word out about my regimen to as many people as possible. I also plan on using the power of the Internet to pool the intelligence and experience of people around the world to end the struggle of acne as we now know it.
